After you donate, we will provide you with Form 1098-C which affirms the final value received when the vessel was sold. When you file your income taxes, you will use Schedule A to itemize your deductions and claim the donation. Learn more about the driving forces behind Yachts For Hope; love, hope, and God. MAKING CHANGE POSSIBLE Here at Yachts For Hope, we see the value in everyone. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2020, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon: love, hope and impactful change. God works in mysterious ways and everything happens at the right time and for the right reason; that is what happened in February of 2020 when Yachts For Hope was created. Yachts For Hope emerged from a group of Christians that met due to their professions in the marine industry (+40 years combined) and their desire for actions to speak louder than words. This allows us an advantage when it comes to boat donations and their condition. However, it is ultimately the generosity and kindness of our donors that allows us to be "A Beacon of Hope for God's Children" One of the founders of Yachts For Hope has been doing mission work in Haiti for 12 years now. That is where his heart is and where he feels he has been called to help thus far. He has built an electrical system and water filtration system for an orphanage in Haiti using his extensive electrical knowledge, his bare hands, and his contacts in the electrical field to donate thousands of dollars’ worth of batteries, inverters, generators, wiring, etc. and not to mention his time that he is more than happy to give. This orphanage in Haiti which is part of Yachts For Hope may be the first place we help with the support of our donors' charitable contributions. Our goal is to bring the support of our donors nationwide and wherever God leads us. To learn more about our efforts, click here ! Yachts For Hope values transparency when it comes to your donation; whether it's monetary through our online donations or in the form of a vessel. We want you to be well informed about where the proceeds are being invested to. At this time, our efforts are focused in Haiti and Colombia, with our support extending to our local community in Palm City and throughout South Florida. However, our work does not end there. Yachts for Hope partners with various nonprofit organization and foundations to further our mission and theirs. Colombia In the midst of one of the most conflictive regions of Cali, Colombia, gang rivalries and drug trafficking plague the area. More often than not, children get roped into these gangs and have their entire worlds flipped upside-down. This is where the local church Mission: Life to the Nation and the foundation Hands That Serve the Community come into play. The church and the foundation, backed by the support of Yachts For Hope and its' donors, have implemented programs to help young children targeted by gangs to have a bright and hopeful future. Located in the cross-section of 4 local gangs, the Church provides a safe-haven for children and young adults, even extending their support to the children of gang-members. They have enlisted the help of medical professionals, psychologists, barbers/cosmetologists, lawyers, and missionaries who have graciously volunteered their time and support. The impacts of these programs are already measurable; many physically and spiritually destitute children and families have found hope, a new sense of confidence in their dreams and ambitions, and regained trust in humanity. Gang confrontations have decreased almost to a stop. All through the physical, spiritual, and emotional support of the volunteers. Haiti More often than not, we take the small things we have in life for granted. This is not the case for the people of Haiti. The resources and materials are so scarce in their communities, the gratitude beams on their faces by simply feeling the touch of a caring soul. It is nowhere near easy living in the conditions they are subjected to by their circumstances. Many do not have access to basic human needs; clothing, clean water, food, medicine, etc. Our founder witnessed first-hand the effects of the country's environment on a mission trip a few years back. The local water fountain was not in good conditions, to the point that the contaminated water took the life of a young child in the community. This had a profound impact on him and he decided to donate his time, materials, and efforts to installing a water filtration system that would allow access to clean and safe drinking water. This was a small step in the right direction, and there is much more we can do to help the people of Haiti. With the support of our donors, we can make a difference in their lives and futures. Through education, art, spiritual and trade programs, we can provide hope to the hopeless. Foundations We Support One of the foundations we partner with focuses on restoring and preserving marine wildlife in the coastal waters of Florida. They most recently worked with the Florida Oceanographic Society at the annual seagrass matting event. They are working alongside groups of dedicated volunteers towards seagrass restoration in Manatee Pocket. Another organization we partner with dedicates their efforts to improving the life, health and welfare of the people of Bayonnais, Haiti by providing a safe and caring environment. They seek to empower struggling individuals to become self-sufficient through education and trade programs. They take care of orphans, widows, and others in their time of greatest need.
